I took this shot one early morning last year during the winter. This short eared owl was hunting in the fields near my home along with six other birds that were over wintering from Siberia. It didn’t mind me being there, circling round several times before coming in to land on this fence post. It sat for a good minute or so, giving me a few glances before flying off into the field again. A wonderful moment i shall never forget.

I like this shot for several reasons. Owls, in general, are hard to catch, particularly shortened owls. The beauty of the undercarriage is well done. The yes have a certain look of mood. The winter background adds icing on the cake.
