Location
I actually took this picture while on a walk with my wife. We were enjoying a beautiful Colorado evening when I noticed the light catching her bracelet.Time
This was taken around sunset on a warm summer evening. Really, I took it on a whim since we were both more interested in the beautiful sunset over Pike's Peak.Lighting
There is absolutely nothing special about the lighting: all natural sunlight in the midst of the golden hour.Equipment
I shot this with a Canon EOS 70D using a 50mm f/1.8 prime without a tripod or flash. The lense was a relatively new acquisition so I was looking for opportunities to use it.Inspiration
I really liked the way the light was glinting off her bracelet and I was looking for a reason to use my "nifty-fifty". It was the perfect combination for spur of the moment inspiration.Editing
I usually spend a ton of time on post processing, but this required very little. Some very slight adjustment to contrast, exposure and sharpening then conversion to black and white. In my camera bag
When it comes to what I carry with me, I am a pack rat and carry almost everything I own in my bag. This currently includes a Canon 70D with a 70-200mm, 18-55mm and 50mm prime as well as a Tokina 11-16mm. Other accessories include a Cokin Z-series filter kit, Trigger-trap (I love long exposure) and various cleaning supplies. I prefer landscape photography, so you won't find me without my trusty Pro-Master ball-head tripod (it packs up quite small and I can attach it to my bag).Feedback
My advice is pretty straight forward: just keep taking pictures and don't be afraid to try new approaches. You never know where or when you are going to find a winner.
