Location
This photo was taken near Echo Lake at the base of Mt. Evans. A friend and I were trying to go to the top of the mountain but was told the road was closed. so we decided to take a few pictures around a gift shop and we took pictures of Echo lake and the Humming birds at the feeders. I noticed the hummers were flying back and forth between the feeders and some bushes about 25 yards away. I planted myself on a rock near the bush and waited for them to land.Time
The time of day was about 10:30 amLighting
It was partly cloudy that day and was able to get this shot when the clouds came overhead so it wasn't too bright.Equipment
I was using my Nikon D3200 with a 55-200mm lensInspiration
I got many photos that day of humming birds and I seldom have seen a hummingbird at rest away from a feeder.Editing
I did crop the photo some and adjusted highlights, contrast, and sharpened slightly with basic windows media softwareIn my camera bag
Nikon D3200 two lenses 17-55mm and 55-200mm, I have a macro adapter, my trusty Fuji Finepix S3200 point and shoot, and a monopodFeedback
My advice is to be Patient, when moving to the rock near the bush the birds flew away and I had to wait close to 30 minutes for them to return. Then I was able to start taking pictures
