Location
The shot was taken west of the beautiful city, Cape Town, South Africa at an small inland lake - Langebaan. I had just returned from a wildlife photography excursion in Botswana (where the photo bug really got me!) I wanted to take my wife for a day out to capture flowers in Namakwaland, but never left Langebaan; it offered so many opportunities. We were lucky, it was a warm summers day, sun shinning with a cool breeze from the ocean and a beach and dunes full of beautiful bright colored flowers!Time
Was just before lunch time, sun was high up and very bright - luckily for me the sharp light worked in my favor and created a almost perfect exposed image with beautiful vibrant colors.Lighting
This picture was not taken on the right time of day, it was to warm, with to much bright light around. In this station it worked well for i went down low, went up close which means i needed more light. The light also helped with bringing out the colors in the scene.Equipment
This is the most interesting part, i only invested a month or what after this picture was taken in a DSLR camera - this shot was taken with a Nikon L310 Zoom camera which i loved a lot, but needed a lot of light and correct light to get the exposure right. I laid flat on my stomach and rested the camera on my hand.Inspiration
Our beautiful world. There are so many beautiful things around us and if you do not go out, you will never see them. I have always had this obsession with capturing the beauty of everything and anything and be able to show it to the people do not get the opportunities to see it themselves!Editing
Yes, but not much. I did crop it slightly and enhanced the colors with Light room to bring out the beautiful bright vibrant colors of the flowers. Luckily for the light, a lot of post-processing was not necessary. In my camera bag
Like i mentioned earlier on i only started to invest in gear after this shot was taken.Today i never leave the house without my Canon 600D, Canon 50mm 1.8, Canon 17- 85 4-5.6, my favorite travel lens Tamron 18- 250 3.5-6.3 and my most recent add on Sigma 150-600 5-6.3. I also carry in my bag a tripos and a Nissin flash as well as extra memory cards. I have now started to look at filters, but still have a lot to learn.Feedback
I will just say if you see a scene that will make the perfect shot go for it!!even if means you have to lay down on your stomach with your face in the sand! You will be amazed how much a picture changes, if you change the perspective!
