Meet the young maestra of Amboseli, a playful elephantine dancer pirouetting on the earth's salted canvas. Ears out, she orchestrates a dance, leading her family on a mesmerizing journey to the swamp lands. Every step echoes the rhythm of nature, a graceful ballet in the heart of the wild.
Amidst the challenges of the savanna, their tight-knit unit embodies resilience, and the volcanic ash and salt canvas mirrors the stars as she creates fleeting patterns, propelled by grace. Journeying through dangers, the family shields each other. Upon reaching the lush swamp lands, the elephant revels in cool mud, laughter echoing. Her dance is a celebration of life's beauty and resilience, a testament to the enduring power of family in nature's embrace.

Pachyderms on patrol! Hup, 2, 3, 4, keep it UP 2, 3, 4! Green with envy! It’s been many years since I had the privilege to be close to these beautiful souls. I hope your camera fared well, if not, well worth the shot, lol!

Location
This photo was taken at Amboseli, a land renowned for its captivating spectacle of merry elephants.Time
At 4 AM, I wake to the anticipation of an extraordinary day. The destination: a dry lake bed. Armed with my camera, I prepare to capture the enchanting moment when elephants descend from the hills, weaving through the dry lake bed. A sunrise adventure with giants unfolds, and I'm ready to seize the magic.Lighting
I believe that natural light is optimal, especially during sunrise or sunset when the sun is not at its peak.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 5D Mark III and a shutter with a Vello Wireless ShutterBoss 4.0 Remote Timer and Trigger.Inspiration
These iconic elephants of Amboseli invite us to marvel at the intricate beauty of these gentle giants, revealing a world where the arid earth transforms into a stage for nature’s extraordinary waltz.Editing
I kept my post-processing simple and natural, preserving the inherent beauty of the elephants' skin and their graceful strides. The clouds formed a perfect backdrop, requiring no edits. In my camera bag
When I embark on a journey to Africa, my bag is equipped with duplicates of everything. I carry two Canon R3 cameras, a ground camera, multiple GoPros, and an abundance of batteries, cords, and chargers to ensure I'm well-prepared for every photographic opportunity.Feedback
Capturing images at low altitudes presents its challenges. Not only do I strive to anticipate the animals' behavior, but I also contend with various weather obstacles such as heat, cold, wind, and thick clouds of dust. Achieving that perfect shot can sometimes demand an entire day's dedication. I consistently wake up early to establish my position before the animals appear, and this often involves a considerable amount of waiting. To achieve an angle like this, I either position a camera in a cage on the ground or hide under the car with a telephoto lens to capture the unique perspective of ground-level photography.
