Behind The Lens

Location

My friend and I took a few students from my school in Utah to a golf course for a photoshoot. The scenery was perfect.

Time

It was sometime in the afternoon so the natural lighting was harsh.

Lighting

I was working with harsh natural light and my friend used her reflector to get it even on the models.

Equipment

I used my friend’s Nikon camera and lens (I unfortunately can’t remember the specifics) and a reflector.

Inspiration

I’ve always really liked the style of editorial shoots. I wanted to experiment with elements of the editorial style and tried a low angle on my subject. I love how she stands out from the blue sky.

Editing

I mainly played around with the tones of the photo and did my best to minimize the shadows on my subject.

In my camera bag

I always have my Nikon D 750 and my go to lens is my 24-85 mm. If I’m doing self portraits I bring a tripod and sometimes props.

Feedback

When the sky is clear of clouds use a low angle on your subject. If you want some flowers in the shot finding a nice field works great.
