Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on a golf course in Southern Utah. I was doing free photo shoots for people at my boarding school to give back to the community.

Time

I believe it was around 2:00 PM, luckily someone was there to hold a reflector to help with the harsh light.

Lighting

The nice lighting on her face is from someone else holding a golden reflector and I think it added very nicely to the sort of dreamy vibe.

Equipment

I used my friend’s camera, so I don’t quite remember the model. It was a Nikon with a telephoto lens.

Inspiration

I really liked the yellow flowers in this one area and I wanted to get some full body shots, so I decided to try a low angle to incorporate both and have a editorial feel.

Editing

Yes, I mainly just adjusted the tones/coloring along with some exposure adjustments.

In my camera bag

My camera is the Nikon D750 and my 24-85 mm lens never leaves my camera since I got it. Sometimes I carry a backpack so I can bring along my film camera or Polaroid camera.

Feedback

Play around with lower angles and find some interesting foreground. To avoid harsh light try to shoot either early/later in the day, on a cloudy day, or have someone with you to hold a reflector.
