Lac Montriond, Haute Savoie in France

Lighting

This lake has a beautiful natural light morning and evenings at all times of the year. However at the end of summer, early autumn it goes down exactly opposite the lac behind me in this shot and lights up the white cliffs which tend to create a fascinating light.

Equipment

It was shot on a sony dsc hx300. It is always hand held

Inspiration

This lake is not far from my home, I sometimes walk there or take the car. I am always looking out the window and if I feel that the afternoon has a special light created by the mountains and clouds I go to the lake.

Editing

I use GIMP and it is always a 1 layer photograph with some contrast and saturation tweeks.. I keep it as natural as possible.

In my camera bag

I am very sporty so I am not big into taking much with me.. camera, Polaroid lens, battery and cleaning cloth and brush..

Feedback

People always say you need patience to photograph something special. I hate to sit still so I hike, walk move constantly. My shots are always done on the move. Will I hike I am always on the look out for something special, natural lighting, colour but I don't wait for it.. I spend a lot of time outdoors so I do see and experience a lot of beauty.. My camera is always on my shoulders ready to shoot.
