Mirages out like it is sand dunes. Can actually recall walking over my sands and peering down on some stables with a very similar appearance. Is literally awsome.

Location
This was taken near where I live. End of winter ski season. Out on ski skins. After a snow fallTime
It would have been taken before mid day. Not too early as You don't want the snow to be icy so the sun has to have warmed it up a little.Lighting
It was taken in auto mode. Taken as is. I used a bit of contrast in GimpEquipment
Just a Sony DSC HX300, no tripod, auto modeInspiration
I always have my camera with me. I exersice and use opportunities to photograph something special. I don't wait for a shot but take them on the move. Those ski trails coming down in virgen snow, the 2 cabins and the mound of snow in front of me was a perfect setting.Editing
I used GIMP for a bit of contrast. Just 1 layer, no masking. In my camera bag

Landscapes change all the time. You can't always go out at sunset or sunrise so just be open to great shots at any time of day. Photography goes with exercise for me so always be looking around you and be ready to take the shot.
