THIS photo was taken on the mossettes chairlift in Moraine Avoriaz ski area in the alps in FranceTime
It was taken just after 0900 am when the chairlift opensLighting
It was a perfect foggy morning with the sun rising in front of me. Besides using a little contrast in photo apps I am not good at editing yet so have to always use natural lighting and colours to the fullest. This shot came from a perfect positionEquipment
I have a Sony 50 optical zoom. It is always slung over my shoulders. I love the outdoors and sport so never use a tripod. I am always looking for a shot but do not hang around for hours waiting for the shot. I do go out at certain times of day because of where the sun might be or because of a certain natural lighting but I am always passing through. This shot happened because I always try take the first lifts but I was lucky this morning that I was not first up but 4th or 5th chair.Inspiration
I realised as we moved up into the mist with the sun rising ahead that I was very lucky to be on that chair lift at that time. The mist swirls around and can open up quite unexpectantly. The conditions were perfect but the chairlift was nearly at the end. I managed a few shots and this one just held the mood.Editing
I use GIMP. Added a bit of contrast and use levels for a little dark and light. It is just 1 layer. In my camera bag
I have cleaning cloths, extra batteries, extra memory and a Polaroid UV filter. It is an attached filter at 50 zoomFeedback
Most photographers say you need to hang around and have patience. I am always on the move so although I have a clear understanding of natural lighting importance sunrises and sunsets. The day can always surprise you with cloud formations, sun lighting up an area from behind a hill. An animal appearing behind a bush. If I wait too long in one area I might miss out on that next shot around the corner. I take what nature offers me at the moment and move on. You have to find the speed and patience you have and work with that. We are all different but whatever makes you comfortable will bring out the best eye in the shot you see.
