Location

Taken at Tunnel view in Yosemite National Park.

Time

Thanks to the clouds this was taken in the afternoon just a bit before dinner.

Lighting

The clouds softened the lighting and made the textures

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon 7DMKII with a Canon 70-200mm f/4 on a tripod.

Inspiration

The texture of the rocks stood in contrast to the smooth clouds floating around.

Editing

Processed it into black and white and made some edits to pump up the contrast which was diminished from the distance and the controlled burns smoke. The usual touch of noise reduction and sharpening.

In my camera bag

My back says too much. Usually it consists of: Canon 7DMKII, 17-40mm f/4, 24-105mm f/4 IS, 70-200mm f/4, 100mm f/2.8 IS, tripod, polarizers, neutral density filters, cleaning kit, remote shutter release, small first aid kit, lenspen, assorted cables, spare SD cards, flashlight.

Feedback

Travel when you can and play with the weather a bit. Even if conditions are not ideal for what you thought you were going to shoot, it will be often interesting.
