Behind The Lens

Location

Yellowstone National Park

Time

It was getting later in the day and our search for wolves was unsuccessful, when we spotted this large coyote coming over the ridge.

Lighting

Always important to expose to the right with snow

Equipment

Nikon D500 Tamron 150-600

Inspiration

I love coyotes. Most of the animals had been quite distant, so we jumped out of the car in the hopes that he would keep coming towards us. Wonderful to be around such an amazing and poorly understood animal. I love the movement and the bit of brush poking through the snow.

Editing

Basic processing in LR, removed a few minor distractions in PS

In my camera bag

Since I only shoot wildlife, I carry a Nikon D750 with 80-400mm and a D500 with the Tamron 150-600

Feedback

Most things happen at dawn and dusk, but you just never know with wildlife. Go out and come back when it is dark and just keep looking, you never know what may be around the next curve.
