Location
I took this photo on a walk one day. I live in a great apartment complex that has several ponds on the grounds. I love living here because the management allows me to walk around with my camera. I love to watch the goslings change over the summer. I try to capture each stage of life.Time
This is one of my favorite photos. I took time to scope out the schedule of the geese and found late morning was the best to capture the movements of the families and their goslings. I truly loved capturing this shot of the gosling. I loved being up close and personal with it. At one point, I had to move quickly to get out of the way because they had a one track mind and I was in the middle of their path.Lighting
I waited for the gosling to turn so the harsh lighting of the sun did not create the harsh shadow. I took the opportunity to get down a little lower to the gosling so I capture the walk.Equipment
The picture was captured with my Nikon D810. I did not use my tripod because I was moving in and out of the families of geese. I find if I talk to them they relax and go about what they are doing. I used my favorite lens 28mm to 300mm. to capture this shot.Inspiration
I love wildlife. I believe that each creature has their own unique purpose and story to tell. I was inspired to capture this photo because of how they move between the ponds. Most of the time the geese just fly between them. However, in the Spring they walk, rather waddle. I watch them hold up traffic to cross the road, up the curb and walk through the grass. The focus they have is amazing to watch. The parents of the goslings are very protective to outside geese.Editing
I did very little post-processing. I did crop the photo to make sure he was the main focal point in the picture. In my camera bag
I carry my Nikon D810 with my favorite lens.(28-300mm lens) 1 extra battery(fully charged) and a few extra memory cards. Outside the bag, I carry a tripod so I can catch the best shots.Feedback
I feel the best feedback I can share is keep your mind open. If you keep your mind open there are so many possibilities to capture the best shot. Inspiration is all around us we just have to have the courage to capture it. Have fun and challenge yourself to take the shot from a different angles to find that one shot that will stand out to you. Photography is love.
