Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken a small coffee roastery called Craft Coffee based in Newtown, Johannesburg, South Africa

Time

This was taken just before noon.

Lighting

I was testing a way to enhance the lighting of the photo by only using a scrim and natural light close to a window.

Equipment

Nikon D3200, 50mm Prime & Scrim

Inspiration

My goal was to improve my natural light photography. I had a coffee at this coffee shop and just the way the cup looked at the moment in the lighting inspired me to try to catch the photo.

Editing

I used basic editing in lightroom for this image. Mostly all information is directly out of camera.

In my camera bag

Currently I carry my Sony A7ii, 50mm Prime, 24-240mm, extra batteries and my tripod.

Feedback

The subject is on a white counter, about 300mm away from a large window. The sun did not shine directly through the window. A scrim was held very close to the subject between the window and the counter. The photo was taken at an angle, not showing the window or scrim.
