Taken in my studio in CLinton, MA.Time
I don't remember exactly, but it was likely after 8 pmLighting
This was a single light, through a stripbox with a grid, nothing fancyEquipment
Nikon D7100, Tamron 24-70 f2.8, Einstein 640, Vanguard tripod...Inspiration
I spent this entire shoot trying to do an extreme low key set. I had been doing a lot of pin up stuff that year, almost all brightly lit on a white backdrop and I just really wanted to do something different.Editing
I darkened the background to really bring out the blacks. Some skin smoothing, probably too much skin smoothing really, but I'm not unhappy with how it ended up. The usual things with eyes, etc. Again, nothing fancy. In my camera bag
My camera bag has the D7100, Tamron 24-70 f2.8, Nikon 70-200 f2.8, Nikon 50 F1.8, Nikon 24-120, Tamron 16-300 DX, Nikon SB800, Sekonic L-358, a cyber commander and trigger, two Yongnuo YN-560IVs and the YN560-TX. I also have a small 7" HDMI monitor that I attach to my tripod with a clamp and connect to the camera while shooting to review photos as I go, but it's not a true tether, just a monitor. For main lighting, I have two Einsteins, an Alien Bees B800 and an old White Lighting 800 with various modifiers.Feedback
I think I say the same thing every time I fill one of these out, but I cannot stress enough what a difference it makes to have a great model. Shelley is someone I've worked with many times. She's professional, funny, easy to work with and a chameleon. She does hair for a living, and I've seen her do a complete change of look in ten minutes. Hair, make up, everything. She knows what to do, and we just have a great time.
