I took this photo in the front yard of our home in Honolulu. We had unusual plants and cool looking lizards around our yard.Time
I liked to take a walk around the neighborhood around sunset to see what I could capture with my camera. I have found there is so much beauty to be found in every day life. One does not have to travel far to find something beautiful. I like to shoot with natural lighting and rarely use my flash for any of my photography.Lighting
I love shooting at sunrise and sunset, the lighting makes for the most beautiful colors to capture. I am just starting out as a hobby photographer, so I'm learning something new every time I pick up the camera.Equipment
I used my Canon T3i along with my Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. No flash.Inspiration
I was walking in the front yard and looked up, noticing how the light was flowing through the flower. I had to try to capture the light and all the details it brought out of the flower.Editing
I did some simple editing in Lightroom. I prefer not to heavily edit my photographs, I love to share the beauty found in nature and keep to simple. In my camera bag
I always take my Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens everywhere I go. It is a great little lens for everyday shooting. I also like to take my zoom lens with me when we are on hikes. You never know what little creature you will find near a rock or bird you will find in the tree.Feedback
Be creative in your angles. Do not be afraid to shoot into the light, use it as an advantage. I have found that capturing the ordinary things at different angles and playing with the light makes for some great photographs. I simply looked up and saw how the light was filtering through the flower and knew it would be a great shot.
