Location
Normally I travel all over the world taking photos, but this was just outside my flat in England.Time
In the summer evening, so it was around 9pm at that time of year.Lighting
Never seen anything quite like it before, with the setting sun illuminating the dark clouds behind the rainbow.Equipment
I used my full-frame Sony a7r with a 16-35 mm wide angle lens. It still required a three-frame stitched panorama to get it all in.Inspiration
This was actually taken for a flickr photography competition called f/64, which is a knock-out competition of up to 64 competitors and requires images taken within a certain time-frame for each round. I'd left it to the last minute, as usual, for my image in this round. Let's just say I got lucky with the light conditions!Editing
Other than stitching the frames to create the panorama, there was a bit of contrast adjustments to maximise the visibility of the rainbow. In my camera bag
As well as that mentioned above, I normally carry a 55 mm prime lens and a Sirui carbon-fibre travel tripod.Feedback
Other than being very lucky like I was? I guess to go out in poor weather conditions, because the best light often occurs after the rains have stopped and clouds part.
