I took this photo in our garden at home. It was the last day of 2015 and I happened to see the butterflies visiting the garden flowers so I decided to try my hand at taking close ups.Time
It was taken round about 10h00 in the morning.Lighting
The sun caught the flowers and butterfly just at the right angle. I set my camera on auto and hoped for the best as the butterfly never gave me enough time to think of camera settings.Equipment
I used my Canon Power Shot SX60 HS.and held it in my hands. Thus the camera did most of the work.Inspiration
I was trying my hand at taking photos of insects close up as I am a nature lover and have always been intrigued by close up photos of these creatures and the detail that can be seen that the naked eye misses so easily. It also gave me the opportunity to learn more about the camera's abilities as it was still new after I only bought it earlier in that year.Editing
I cropped the photo with the cropping feature of the camera itself. In my camera bag
I am only an amateur and am still learning the trade. The only equipment that I have is my camera, a tripod and my camera bag. So as you can imagine I take everything with me when I am off to taking pictures.Feedback
Have patience and take as many photos of your subject as possible. Be alert and look around you. These insects are all around us. For butterflies it has to be sunny and they also seem to be more active in the morning. The time of year is also important. Spring and summer are the best seasons for butterflies as there are more flowers available to them.
