Location
This photo was taken near Ovid Michigan. It is a farm community very near the center of the lower peninsula.Time
This photo was taken very near sunset.Lighting
There had been a powerful storm that produced torrential rain, hail, damaging winds, and power outages. The lighting reflects the surreal quality of light of clouds and sun that often occur after a storm.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 6D and 24 x 105 L glass lens.Inspiration
I had been traveling on I-96 when a weather alert informed listeners to avoid a particular area due to severe weather. I left the main road and traveled back roads to get to my final destination to avoid the worst of the storm. This is among several incredible images that I captured as I followed the retreating storm across the state.Editing
Processed in Lightroom 5.In my camera bag
Canon 6D, 24x105L Wide Angle Canon Lens , 2.8 x 100mm L Canon Lens. 100 x 400 L Canon Lens, Extra Batteries and memory cards.Feedback
Just stay in the moment and watch for the changing quality of light. Much can be done with software, but nothing substitutes for "real" light.
