Location
Kruger national park in South AfricaTime
Just returning from morning game drive so it was about 9amLighting
The owl was well in the tree, positioning to get the shot was critical, I was lying on the floor.Equipment
Canon 5d mark iii, with canon 600mm f4 lens. We saw the owl fly over and into the tree, it was a case of grab the camera and go.Inspiration
The eyes, I just loved the eyesEditing
It needed a bit of cropping, but that was about it.In my camera bag
I'm not good at travelling light, I have a selection of canon gear in my bag. My favourites are the 600mm f4, 300mm f2.8 and 100mm f2.8 macro lenses. They cover most situations when I'm shooting wildlife.Feedback
Approach slowly, be patient, shoot as you go just in case your subject flies away.
