Location
This photograph was taken on a family outing to the Umgeni bird park, here in Durban South Africa.Time
Just a little after lunch as we were ambling our way through the various bird enclosures to enjoy the bird demonstration that is held from 2pm onwardsLighting
This was a quick grab, focus and keep clicking.Equipment
my trusty Nikon D3000 and 55-200 Nikon lens. No flash, tripod or otherInspiration
We came around the bend and there was this magnificent shot waiting to be taken as this Pelican proceeded to bath to his utter delight. So I just kept clicking.Editing
No this is an absolutely real as is shot....I do prefer this. Post Processing is now allowing for any shot to be made a masterpiece - I want this world to be its own masterpiece as it was intended. In my camera bag
Nikon D3000; 55-200mm lens; 18-55mm lens. I do have a bigger lens but that gets taken out for specifics especially game drives.Feedback
Stop worrying about the hows, whys, whats and wheres - it takes away the instant! For still moments, posed shots then worry about those as you have time to contemplate and set up. But when an opportunity presents itself keep your finger on that button - there will be time enough after to go through your shots and delete those uglies (and there are!!) but there will be THAT one!! Focus and then as the opportunity unfolds itself lend yourself to THAT moment and honor that moment by capturing it in as many exposures as you can - don't rob that moment by lens changing; procrastinating; looking for the best angle; lighting; etc Nature in its finest is perfect the way that it is.
