A stormy afternoon sky enticed me out for a drive. Imagine my surprise when the sun seemed to divide the clouds and produce the most beautiful rainbow framing this windmill. It held me captive in its beauty for some time.Time
This photo was taken on a stormy afternoon. The sky had been gloomy for most of the day, I thought there was a possibility I may see some lightning on the horizon. Instead the sun setting produced this beautiful rainbow. The colours in the sky were mesmerizing.Lighting
The lighting was provided by mother nature and its nice to know no-one does it better.Equipment
I used my Canon 550d for this photo with my 10-18 mm wide-angle lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
My inspiration for this photo was the sheer beauty that was in the sky before me. It is exhilarating to have a photo form before your eyes with no effort other than getting out and enjoying life and appreciating the world and your place in it.Editing
I adjusted the contrast slightly to bring out the colours in the rainbow, other than that no post processing was done.In my camera bag
I have had several camera backpacks and bags but have now found a shoulder bag that suits my needs perfectly. It allows me quick access to my lenses & camera. I have upgraded my camera since this shot to a Canon 60D but still have my kit lenses 18-55 mm, 55-250 mm & a wide angle 10-18 mm. I have a cleaning cloth and a spare battery. I always carry a water bottle which my bag caters for and a few snacks in case I get lost in the bush :)Feedback
My only advice for others is get out there as often as you can. Enjoy your surroundings and be thankful for life. I just jumped out of my car to capture a moment. No equipment other than my camera, passion and a beautiful sky.
