Location
I took this photo at Hatzic Lake in Mission B.C.Time
I had just dropped my son off at school, so it was just after 8 am.Lighting
As you can probably tell the only thing I needed was the soft glow of the morning sun.Equipment
This shot was taken with m Nikon D5100, with a 70-300mm Nikkor lens. No trip pod was used.Inspiration
Well being winter, you really have to try to find the beauty in the drab, in the dead and the stuff you would walk right over in the summer. I have always liked the look of dead cat tails, and the cottony remnants that blow in the breeze.Editing
Honestly I can't remember details. , this didn't need much, but I touch up pretty much all my photos in a similiar fashion. I usually enjoy a bit more contrast and I always remove colour cast to bring out the warm glow of the morning sun.In my camera bag
I am a poor amateur, so I travel light in my bag, I always have cleaning stuff, wire less shuttler release for tripod time, extra memory card, and thats really about it. I need to win a few contests and get some gear!! lol :)Feedback
I do some unusual things with my 70mm-300m lens, I can only get down to 5.6 f stop, but as long as you are steady you can get decent blur and keep your subject in focus by not getting too close. Most people would opt for a 50mm for this kind of thing but you gotta do what you gotta do with what you got. Always keep the rule of thirds in mind, it makes a huge difference in the feel of your shots!! Thanks for voting!!! I appreciate it big time! :)
