If given my choice, I would usually pick b/w over color.. The vibrant color changed my mind. Just enough HDR .

Thanks, I do like the B/W version of this too, I think any HDR with a castle is great, makes it more dramatic! :D

We have nothing like this in the U.S. Makes me want to visit even more.

Visit Ireland, or the UK and you will find many different castles to take shots of. I took this as a last minute shot, I was getting ready to head back to the hotel for the evening, but I remembered last time I was here I didn't take a full shot of the Castle, so I wandered around with my lens getting in the way of people till I had it like this...then I committed a deadly sin to some and HDR'd it hehe. :)

Nice shot! I love the clouds and the way the sun lights up the castle. :)

Location
This is Ross Castle, Killarney Ireland.Time
Was taken in the afternoon of a family holiday.Lighting
I was experimenting with HDR here, so lighting didn't really bother me, the multiple exposures I took would ensure I got all the detail I needed.Equipment
Nikon D3100, 15-55mm kit lens. My first DSLR camera.Inspiration
had recently seen a lot of HDR shots and wanted to try my own, I figured with irish weather I'd either get dark and moody or bright and happy, I appear to have both.Editing
I took multiple shots, at different exposure values ranging from -2.0, -1.0, 0, 1.0 and 2.0, edited singly in Lightroom, then combined using Photomatix Pro and HDR-ified.In my camera bag
Back then it was a Nikon D3100, 15-55mm kit lens, a 55-200mm Nikkor and a 70-300mm Sigma. Now I have a D7100, a 35mm Nikkor, 40mm Nikkor and the other lenses.Feedback
This was a pain in the behind to get, as the place is always so busy, each shot I was extremely lucky as there was no bus load of people wandering around. Patience is key, know what you want and get it. Be sure to take multiples as not everything works out. Just have fun. Now adays I wouldn't go for something as bright and obv HDR as this, but when I was experimenting it was fun. Looks even better in B&W. :)
