Location
This was taken at the Bicheno Blowhole on the East Coast of Tasmania, Australia.Time
This was taken at Dawn in the middle of Winter.Lighting
I just used the natural light of the sun rising over the Ocean.Equipment
I used my Pentax K5 with an old manual Asahi manual 50mm f2,lens, 1/40th sec exposure, 80 iso. My camera mounted on my tripod, and using a cable release. I had the colour saturation increased in the camera. I used a Grad ND filter on the sky.Inspiration
There were large waves hitting the coast so we went and stayed overnight hoping for a good sunrise.Editing
A little adjusting of levels in photoshop, cropping and an increase in the colour saturation to bring out the sunrise pinks in the water spray. In my camera bag
s this was taken in 2010 I have now upgraded to a Pentax K3, I also have a back up camera my Pentax K5 for when I am doing Weddings. The main lenses in my bag are the Pentax 50-135mm f2.8, Sigma 28-70mm f 2.8, Sigma 10-20mm, Pentax 50mm f1.4, Sigma 150-500mm. Metz 50 Flash, Cable Release, Lee system Filters grad ND and ND, Lee ND400, B&W ND400. Manfrotto 055XPROBFeedback
Get there well before the sunrise to be ready as the best light is very fleeting and doesn't last long. Try to use shutter speeds slow enough to blur the waves but not at a shutter speed that still portrays the action.
