Field parasol mushrooms (I'm pretty sure this is one) are one of my favourites to eat. You have captured this one beautifully.

Thank you, Kerry. I got a little dirty in the course of taking this photo, but it was worth it.

What an incredible image. This is a perspective one rarely sees, and you have executed it superbly, Jim. I love it.

I love this shot. Great angle! Was it hard to get back up? That is the part I do not like, is getting back up!

A little. Fortunately, the grass was long and soft, which made it easier. I left the scene dirtier than sore. Thank you, Gayle.

Location
These mushrooms were in a neighbor's front yard. I was able to part the tall Bermuda grass and place my Sony NEX-7 on the ground. Neighbors must have wondered why I was prone in someone else's yard.Time
Early afternoon on a breezy and hot summer day.Lighting
The dynamic range of the scene was very wide, so I bracketed the exposure ± 0.7 stops.Equipment
I used a Sony NEX-7 with Zeiss 24 mm f/1.8 prime lens at f/5.6. The camera body was on a piece of paper placed on the ground.Inspiration
I wanted to show the mushrooms from a different perspective, one humans don't usually see. This allowed me to capture the delicate gills under the cap.Editing
I processed three bracketed exposures in Photomatrix. In my camera bag
I try to travel light. I prefer to carry a small bag containing the NEX-7 and attached lens (usually a Zeiss 24 mm f/1.8), circular polarizer, extra battery and memory card, wireless remote, small 18% gray card, lens brush and cleaner, and pen and paper.Feedback
This image is all about perspective. You may be rewarded with an interesting photo when you view common objects from uncommon perspectives.
