Behind The Lens

Location

In one of the backstreets off Queens Street, Auckland, NZ.

Time

Early evening (5.30pm) on an overcast late autumn day.

Lighting

With natural lighting low, flash out of the question and no tripod, being able to use the wide aperture of the lens allowed the shot to be at the higher shutter speed, so no camera shake.

Equipment

Canon 60D, 50mm lens. Exposure 1/125, f2.2, ISO 100.

Inspiration

The intriguing architecture of the building, with the beautiful stained glass windows shining out invitingly in the overcast dusk of the evening.

Editing

Enhanced the contrast and used backlighting to bring out the colour in the walls of the building.

In my camera bag

Canon 60D, with either the 50mm lens or 24-105mm lens.

Feedback

Always take a camera when going downtown, you never know what will catch the eye. For going downtown, prefer the 50mm lens as Camera looks less intrusive.
