This shot was handed to me in my own driveway in Ohio, The female snapping turtle came up from the creek to lay her eggs by the drive and I just happened to come home at the exact right timeTime
This shot was taken about noon with a full sky of sunshine to make her eyes glowLighting
The lighting was full sun beautifully warm not what I usually want for photos but of this girl it all worked out.Equipment
I used my "car" camera a Canon Rebel T3i that goes everywhere I goInspiration
We hardly ever see snapping turtles around here they are so secretive this girl was laying her eggs in the middle of the day so I had to take the risk of the "Snap"Editing
There was no post processing needed on this photo lighting and blur effect came naturallyIn my camera bag
I normally Carry my Canon T3i and a Nikon D5200 no tripod always hand held and just snap what is beautiful in nature around meFeedback
The specifics for this photo was really don't get to close. I laid on my stomach about 6 feet in front of her and hoped she wouldn't lunge at me. She was mid egg laying so I didn't want to disturb her , she had a nice hole dug and was doing her best to lay her eggs and get back to the water. I focused as close as I could and took a few shots and got out of her way. I researched the gestation period of the eggs and captured a photo of one of the babies before they were gone, I felt very lucky to have caught it the others were empty shells and the little turtles had went on their way.
