Location
This was taken inside an old abandoned wool mill in Somerset. We chatted nicely with the on site security guard who kindly allowed us access and free reign to wonder around the entire site for a few hours. It wasn't a planned trip and unfortunately I had no external flash with me and Just my trusty old Fuji finepix S3 Pro with me in terms of camera choice.Time
The photo was taken in the early afternoon of a bright sunny May day, around 2PM. There had been light drizzle in the morning and we had only gone out for a quick drive for my son to be able to collect some "Bits".Lighting
This picture was taken with only natural lighting, what there was came from a large sky light on the far left and several holes in the walls that allowed the rain and wind to pour in.Equipment
This shot was taken on my trusty old Fuji Finepix S3 Pro with a Nikon 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 lens. As i stated earlier, my external flash was back at home so I took the show free hand, tripod was with the flash back home!Inspiration
It basically just cried out to be taken. It summed up the whole atmosphere of the old abandoned factory and the loneliness of all the artefacts that had just lain untouched since the day the staff walked out from the factory never to return.Editing
The image was brightened slightly in lightroom and greens slightly enhanced to raise the mosses up into the picture some.In my camera bag
My kit bag(s) now normally consist on my Fuji S3 Pro, a Coolpix L810 and a Nikon D60. Lenses range from Nikon 18-50, 55-200 and 70-300 as well as a 35mm F2.8 prime. Flash is Speedlights and I have just invested in a set of 4 studio lights and green/white and black clothes to do some experimental portrait photography.Feedback
My advice on shooting something similar? Take lots of shots! This was a one off opportunity as we are very unlikely to get back into the old factory again before its demolished. Don't risk that one chance at that one shot with just the one shot.
