Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in San Antonio, TX. I was visiting my Father who worked on the air force base and the following day was an air show. The Thunder-birds where practicing and had my camera with me.

Time

I want to say it was about 2 pm in the afternoon so lighting was really good.

Lighting

I am so glad that Texas seems to always have a good amount of sunshine to provide enough light for fabulous photos. It would be hard to take this photo in a raining city or a city that is always cloudy.

Equipment

I was using my very first camera ( which has gone to a better place. ) a D50 with a 80-200 f4.5 lens, Hand held and zoomed in pretty much to 200 mm.

Inspiration

I owe everything I own to looking "up " to my dad. He was a member of the air force and that instilled a sense of duty in us. His hard work paid for my education and help mold me into the man I am today. He worked on F-16 and wanted to take something worth framing to give to him upon retirement.

Editing

I didn't use any post processing except for maybe cropping. just to take some of the focus towards the planes.

In my camera bag

I now normally have my D7100 and my 18-200 mm lens for any last minute application. I am hoping to improve my lens selection for low light and sports.

Feedback

I would say, if you want to capture a shot like this, don't leave you camera at home, always turn you car into a county fair, air show, or large gathering of people and let you imagination do the work .
