This shelter sits atop Brian Head Peak, elevation 11,307 feet. It was built in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The roof has been replaced, and it will need to be replaced again: A week or so after I shot this a wind storm severely damaged the structure. You can find photos of the damage in the Salt Lake news. I haven’t been back to see the shelter damage in person, as Brian Head is usually buried in snow by this time of year.
From this peak, you can see parts of Arizona and Nevada, as well as Utah.
