I took this photo on my property in the Upper Hunter. Photography is a hobby of mine and I love how you can never know exactly how the photo will turn out.Time
This photo was taken at about 7:30am on the 17 of June. I remember it was the first frost that we saw on the new property. Everything was covered in ice. The air was misty and crisp. I went on a bush walk to try and capture the beauty of the frost. This was one of the best photos I took that day.Lighting
The lighting is early morning sunlight shining through mist. The light was shining directly onto the top leaf highlighting the ice and the texture while also creating shadows to help the leaf stand out.Equipment
This photo was taken with my Oppo R9s, no equipment was used.Inspiration
I was inspired to take this photo by the beauty of the frost. I decided that I wanted to capture it forever.Editing
I try not to process my photos to much but I did touch up this photo a little by increasing the contrast and deepening the shadows. In my camera bag
I do photography as a hobby and as such only take photos with my phone. I am hoping to one day buy a proper camera but I am not there yet. Other than my phone I carry no equipment and just take photos as they strike me.Feedback
The only advice I can give is to wait for the perfect time. Mornings and evenings are best because the angled soft light adds contrast and doesn't wash out your photos. But it's not just the best time in the day you need to pick the best day for the photo. If it is to windy your photo won't be clear enough and if it is cloudy then the light will be to grey. The best thing for a photographer to have is patience.
