Location
This photo was captured at a vintage music shop in downtown Fargo, North Dakota called Orange Records.Time
This was taken approximately midday. I knew that I would need the sunlight through the window in order to capture this portrait. I did not want to use flash as I was hoping for a more natural light vibe.Lighting
The window was west facing window helped to soften the light to create the perfect balance between light and shadows on her lovely face. I also didn’t want her directly square to the window to give her portrait more shape from the shadows.Equipment
I used a Nikon D750 with an AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 1:2.8D. No tripod or flash was used.Inspiration
I was excited when I asked Orange Records if they allowed photographs in their store and they were very accommodating. This beautiful lady loves vintage records and it was the perfect backdrop with the outfit she had chosen. When I saw the window, the posters, plants and the cassettes along with records in that spot, I knew it was meant to be.Editing
Yes, very minimal processing, but added a touch of saturation and turned up the hue just slightly in Lightroom. I don’t believe there was much touch up on the model, maybe a few stray hairs. In my camera bag
Nikon D750, an AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 1:2.8D and AF -S Nikkor 24-120mm 1.4 G ED. I also have Lens Pens in my bag as that is a must!Feedback
Don’t be afraid to ask businesses of they allow photography. As long as you are respectful of their customers and thank them when you are done, they are happy to accommodate! It also helps to give them a shoutout on Instagram and other social media!
