Walking at night in St. Louis, Missouri, I saw this "rainbow" connection between two buildings. I loved the colors.

I captured this while leaving the Cantina Laredo Clayton and the Centene Corporation Building on Forsyth Blvd in St. Louis, Missouri.Time
I was on a business trip with some colleagues and we had finished up a beautiful dinner the Cantina Laredo. We were about to stroll back to our hotel, so it was almost sunset. According to the meta data on my camera it was around 8:30 p.m. CST.Lighting
Since I was on a business trip, I was at the mercy of everything! We had just finished dinner and I saw the "Rainbow Connection" out the window and I asked one of my colleagues if she was willing to stay back with me to take a quick shot of the building. It was around 8:30 p.m. and the sun was going down fast. Without a tripod, I quickly snapped a few and hoped the settings were correct as there was no time re-frame and shoot.Equipment
I captured the photo with my Nikon D7100 using a NIKKOR lens 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6. I couldn't use flash because it would have reflected in the windows and I unfortunately had no tripod. I held my breath until I released the shutter, so I could get a clear and focused shot. Settings were 1/8; f/5.6 - ISO 800.Inspiration
When I was sitting in the Cantina I saw this perfect "Rainbow Connection." It was magical. It reminded me a little of the Wizard of Oz with the rainbow pointing the way. I instantly knew it was special.Editing
Yes. First, I took it into Adobe Photoshop to take care of any distortion and also to crop it up. I then brought it into Adobe Lightroom to bump up the colors just a touch. In my camera bag
When I took this photo, I had just moved from a Nikon D5100 to a D7100. I really loved the D7100, but I decided to go to a full-frame and I now currently have a Nikon D750. The lenses I use are strictly NIKKOR. I have a 60 mm micro, a 70-120mm wide angle zoom and a 70-200mm. I also have polarized filters for each and I keep a Lens Pen kit handy at all times.Feedback
Always have your camera. I could've easily left mine in my hotel room, since I thought it was just a dinner engagement and I wouldn't have time. I saw something and then took the quick five minutes to shoot. Opportunities present themselves everyday, but if you are not prepared the shot will be missed.
