If I could describe fall at 8800’ in one picture this would be it. One of my favorite things to do is to use a telephoto lens to compress the background and foreground to capture the grand scale of the mountains. Timing was everything for this. The fog began to clear and the clouds allowed a little bit of light on the massive La Garita mountains sitting just under 14,000’. I used my 80-400 and D850 to compress the aspens, the palisades and the La Garitas sitting miles and miles away. The little bit of fog helped hide the ridge line of the palisades to make it appear that the La Garitas were just behind them.
