In the old Icelandic sagas one likes to see trolls in seastack and isolated rocks off the coast, which were surprised at daybreak while doing some, mostly criminal, activities and turned to stone. This troll here stands on the shore of Húnafjörður, on the east coast of the Vatnsnes Peninsula and is said to have once thrown stones at Þingeyrar Monastery on the other bank of Húnafjörður. In the magical light of the Northern Lights one is inclined to believe these legends.
