I took this photo by the pool at the Corinna Mare Hotel in Kalamaki in Crete, GreeceTime
The photo was taken while I was having dinner with my family at the hotel restaurant by the pool around 7.30pm. I simply put down my camera on the tiled ground and fired it with the timer. I figured the umbrellas at the beach behind the pool would make some really cool reflections in the pool.Lighting
My family and I did some research and choose the Corinna Mare Hotel because of the potential sunsets. What can I say? It really paid off although we didn't have this kind of a sunset every night.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS 700D with a Sigma 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM C simply placed on the ground. My gear isn't something I brag about daily but it does quite a good job, don't you think?Inspiration
I did my research to find a hotel with the possibility of a great sunset and this night was actually the best sunset of the week we stayed there. We had dinner twice at the hotel restaurant and during this dinner I figured it was time to get the view on camera.Editing
This one has only a few adjustments in Lightroom. I have since I posted this on Viewbug bought the Topaz plug-in suite. I can tell you that I've used the Denoise, the Sharpen and the Gigapixel plug-ins to take this photo to new heights. In my camera bag
My camera bag contains the above equipment plus a Platypod tripod base with a Platypod ball head which I certainly could have used while taking this photo but I didn't bring my bag to the dinner table. I also always fit in my beloved DJI Mavic 2 Pro in the bag.Feedback
Always, always, always carry a camera with you. Be it a smartphone or a DSLR or something else. Just bring it and use it!
