A beautiful male specimen of Lesser nighthawk (Chordeiles acutipennis), showcasing the intricate design of its plumage that makes him almost invisible when he rests on the ground or on the branches where he spends the day, waiting for the night to go out hunting again.
These birds do not even build their nests; they lay the eggs (usually 2) directly on the ground or on high surfaces and completely rely on their plumage to hide during hatching.
