Behind The Lens

Location

This was the location of my very first outdoor, exploratory, session I ventured on back when I first got my camera and didn't have the slightest clue what I was doing! My subject wanted a place private, around water, and outdoors so this place immediately popped in my head. Then off we went up the mountain to this location!

Time

We arrived right as the Sunway setting. We didn't finish till nearly 3am!

Lighting

Good old fashioned flash on my camera with 2 speed flashes set up as slaves.

Equipment

Canon T8i, 50mm f/1.8, two neewer speed flashes, my neewer carbon fiber monopod, and to add the colored accent I had a 660 RGB neewer light about 15 ft away.

Inspiration

Just one of the remarkable ones I captured, although it was my subjects 2nd ever photoshoot (first boudoir), I coduct my shoots as a dance, very little do I actually pose my subject. I let them get comfortable, play some music they like, and them do their thing as I dance around trying different angles and heights.

Editing

Very little, I slapped on one of my presets to give it a slight vintage feel and boost up the shadows.

In my camera bag

What I mentioned above, a few ND filters, and my 85mm and 24mm prime lenses!

Feedback

Don't get caught up in the technical stuff with the equipment and posing. The photos are important yes, but it's your clients experience that makes them truly love them. Make them feel like kings and queens, safe, and a small drink before hand does wonders for the confidence!
