Behind The Lens

Location

this photo was taken in the clients house, the photoshoot was a newborn session, with just the baby, and the father happened to walk in, so I invited him to join in

Time

The photo was taken late morning. Since I don't have a studio, and I do my sessions in my living room or the clients houses, I try to find a sunny day and with the most amount of light. I also time the shoot around baby's feeding/nap times

Lighting

I questioned the client when we booked the session and together we choose a room in her house with a large window so we could get in enough natural light

Equipment

canon 18-55, no special equipment

Inspiration

when the dad picked up his daughter I was aiming for a closeup shot of just his arms holding her, but looking at his face and the way he looked at her, I had to capture it

Editing

I used a black and white filter in photoshop and then I added a frame around the image to make it stand out

In my camera bag

I now moved to a sony mirrorless so i carry my standard lens plus a macro depending on what i'm shooting

Feedback

natural light, solid color shirt for the dad, so his clothing don't distract and patience. with any newborn photoshoot patience is the key.
