Augustobriga was a Roman municipality. It was located on the road that went from Emerita Agusta (Mérida) to Caesarobriga (Talavera de la Reina). In the excavations that were carried out, before its flooding, another temple was also discovered, that of La Cilla.
It is important to emphasize that the Portico of the Curia of Talavera La Vieja, known as Los Mármoles, is the only one that is preserved in the entire Roman world. The Temple stood on the banks of the Tagus in another town called Talavera la Vieja or Talaverilla. This was flooded by the waters of the Valdecañas Reservoir in 1963. To save it, it was dismantled stone by stone and re-erected at the point where it is today. The ruins of the town are visible in times of drought as they rise above the surface of the waters.
