The Orleans cathedral (or to be formal Basilique Cathédrale Sainte-Croix d'Orléans) was originally built between 1278 and 1329. It was partially destroyed during the French wars of religion in 1568, then rebuilt between 1601 and 1829. During the siege of Orleans, Joan of Arc was a frequent visitor. The cathedral's stained glass windows represent Joan's deeds during the siege.
This photo was taken from rue Jeanne d'Arc (Joan of Arc street), directly west of the cathedral, on a warm July afternoon. This is a very busy street with cars on the right-side and tramways on the left-hand side. The challenging part was to find the right moment when traffic was at a minimum
