Abstract Object photography. Using juxtaposition , opposites , repetition and pattern to illuminate the colours of red , white and blue in the everyday world around us , yet for many countries a colour combination symbolizing Patriotism and National Identity. 'Lights Out', is a subtle abstract expressionist image which chooses to expose the truth behind the usual strength and invulnerability we usually feel , or try to show , in images using our National Colours. The lights are clearly out on this amusement park ride , the world around it is empty , the lack of illumination proves that things are not working and it is closed for business. Symbolically, the same, is often , and can be said about many countries in the Western World whom promote themselves as the example of what can be achieved in a modern Democracy , but are often not working as well as they should beyond the curtain created by their flags. These are the colours of many countries political systems , and most of those systems are not working , at least in the way it's citizens wish they would. This was also particularly evident at this current time when many of the nations of the world were shut or in lockdown and prevented from normal business because of the Coronavirus Pandemic.
