This is one of the traditional Gondolas that transport people along the canals in Venice, most of them tourists, enjoying the beauty of this unique city. The persons in the back ground have gather to watch the rowing boats that will go along the Canal Grande participating of the Historical Regatta. The event has, in fact, been celebrated since the year 1500, when the authorities decided to support rowing activities in the effort to keep people occupied and to train squads for the protection of the city. The Historical Regatta takes place, every year, on the first Sunday of September.
