I was asked to make the floral arrangements for our Ombudsman ceremony at the Naval Academy. I love photography and am trying to take more opportunities of taking photos. Once I saw these flowers come together this way I had to take the shot.Time
This is one of my most colorful images. I was arranging the flowers in vases when these flowers fell together after I accidentally bumped the vase. It was taken around noon of a partly cloudy day.Lighting
The noon sun and a few clouds in the sky came shining through the window where I was creating the floral arrangements. There was a perfect balance of light and shadow that seemed to make the flowers stand out and kept the colors from being washed out.Equipment
Well, I normally carry my camera bag with me. However, on this day all I had to grab this photo was my iPhone 11 Pro.Inspiration
As I was arranging the flowers, a small bump caused them to shift. Before I moved them back I saw how the roses appeared to come together to gently caress the iris as if to give it a hug. I immediately grabbed my phone and snapped the photo before completing the arrangement.Editing
I was fortunate to not have to do any editing on this photo, I loved it as it was.In my camera bag
I have a Canon T7i with an 18 - 55 mm lens, a 55 - 250 mm lens, and a macro lens in my bag. I also have a variety of filters I can use if desired. I carry a sturdy manfroto tripod with a ball head.Feedback
Keep your camera handy and don’t always be in such a hurry that you miss a small opportunity that could happen in a blink of an eye. Remember, there is beauty everywhere, it just depends on how you look at the world around you.
