I took this picture in Uganda in the mid-1990s. I was in deep, no towns, no paved roads Uganda. People here make do. I doubt this part of Uganda has changed much since I was there. They live on subsistence farming and trading. They have their hands and ingenuity.

This very keepable picture is a scan of a film photograph from 1994 when I backpacked across Uganda. We backpacked through the back roads, not on a tour to the tourist spots.

Maybe people in our amazing country that bemoan all the things they don’t have should take a walk through this part of the world.
