I always go on terrace of my apartment building at sunset. On this particular day, during monsoon, the clouds were distributed in a way that it looked gloomy but excellent from my point of view. So I clicked this image at that moment itself.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on the terrace of my apartment. It was taken in June 2021, in India, when it is the start of Monsoon Season. There is a college near my apartment that you can see in this photograph.

Time

It was taken in the evening after 7 P.M. It was still bright but there were too many clouds.

Lighting

The photograph was taken in natural light. No flash or any other lighting equipment was used for the same.

Equipment

I used my Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 smartphone for clicking this photograph.

Inspiration

I always go to terrace of my apartment every evening for some fun time. On the day this photograph was taken, there was overcast in the sky. The clouds were arranged in a manner that it looked beautiful to me but a little dark and gloomy. That's why I clicked this photograph straightaway.

Editing

I only enabled Black and White filter and reduced brightness in my smartphone camera to take this amazing photograph. There was no other post-processing performed on this photograph.

In my camera bag

I always have my smartphone with me. It is very handy even if it is a budget smartphone.

Feedback

You should try to reduce or increase brightness levels in your camera to see outcomes of your photograph. If you have knowledge of Lightroom, then you can alter the brightness in post-processing session rather than in your camera. I would suggest to do the same in Lightroom since there will be low impact on quality and memory size of your photograph. For example, if you are using smartphone and reduce brightness in the camera itself, then the resulting photo will be in Kilobytes. Due to this, some photography competitions do not allow photographs below 1 Megabyte.
