Location
I went on a cycling trip to a lake on the outskirts of my town on a wonderful summer day. I rarely get the chance to go there, as it's quite far, so I thought I'd capture some memories from a lovely summer!Time
This picture was taken during the afternoon, while the sun was at the perfect angle for this picture. This was one of the first places we stopped for a break during our trip and lucky enough, there was a beautifully photogrnic little boat nearby!Lighting
The lighting gives a very comfortable and welcoming feeling. As there is no sunrise, nor sunset, I personally get a sense of comfort and reminds me of just how vibrant the day was, just by the positioning of the sun, leading to a vivid shade if blue the sky gives!Equipment
As I didn't go on the trip to take pictures and had limited things I could carry, I only brought along my Canon camera. No lense, artificial lighting, tripods, etc. was included. I think that also creates a sense of spontaneity in the picture.Inspiration
I knew I wouldn't have the opportunity to go on this trip in a long time and as I hadn't been there in a while, I thought it'd be the most logical thing to do, seeing as I carry my camera anytime I can! I chose this specific part of the lake, because it holds many memories for me from my childhood and wanted to have physical memories too!Editing
To balance the luminosity of the sky with the grass, I enhanced the shade of green, yellow, orange and brown in the vegetation. I also cropped out unnecessary negative space, which took away from the attention of boat. I found that this was one of the few pictures I've taken that needed the least amount of post-processing, due to the vibrancy of the colours! In my camera bag
I try to carry the least amount of equipment on me, but obviously I'm going to need something! I use my Canon Powershot SX430 IS, not necessarily a tripod, but a steady surface and I don't use lenses either. I find the zoom on my camera is adequate and the less it feels like a shoot I'm setting up for, the more natural it feels.Feedback
I would certainly suggest to others not to arrange the frame as if it's a photoshoot, but work with what you have and if you are focusing on this one setting, definitely try different angles and move things and youself around. Try capture close up details but also don't forget the wide angles too!
