Behind The Lens

Location

My wife and I stayed at Islay House on the island of Islay Scotland built in 1677. The house is extraordinary. This is a picture of the stairs going up to the second level where the rooms are. I knew I had to take a picture as soon as I had seen these stairs

Time

I took the picture at 1837hrs. Outside was already getting dark fast. So there was a little Bit of blue left in the sky which added to the picture.

Lighting

I knew that the picture would turn out well no matter what time of day. But the evening light was a lot nicer. The house faces south west. This stairwell was on the west side with the window facing west

Equipment

I decided to use my iPhone 11 max pro.

Inspiration

We had just arrived and I saw the stairs we had to walk up. I was still feeling it from being in such a historic home/hotel. I felt inspired as we walked towards it and just knew I had to capture its beauty.

Editing

No. The picture is exactly as I took it on my iPhone.

In my camera bag

I normally shoot with a Nikon D3 and a variety of lens from wide angle to telephoto.

Feedback

When I see something that I know I will want to remember I try to take a picture of it. When you feel the need to take a picture, just take it. That moment will never be recreated so before it escapes capture it forever.
