Location
This photo was taken in Hayden Valley, Yellowstone NP, mid-day while on a snowmobile trip. I worked in Yellowstone N for 7 winters, and had occasional opportunities to be out in the park to photograph. This tree is called the Tom Murphy tree, he has used it in many shots. I jave other shots of it as well, but was blessed to have a bison at the top of the ridge.Time
It was a somewhat overcast day but as you can tell by the shadow, it was around noon. Day started early, leaving Old Faithful just after sun-up. Returned before dark.Lighting
Natural LightEquipment
Canon 5D Mk3 with a Tamron 150-600 lens Tripod was the seat and pack of the snowmobile.Inspiration
Winter life in Yellowstone!Editing
small amount of cropping, and just a little tweaking. In my camera bag
My bag normally has a 2 Sigma ART lens (24 and 50mm), the Tampon and a Canon zoom. Tripod, etc.Feedback
Get a self guided snowmobile pass in the lottery or book a photography tour thru one of the West Yellowstone guide groups, I recommend AlpenGuides and go in a vintage Bombardier.
